Kidney Cancer Month

Updated: Mar 25

My favorite color has always been navy blue, followed closely by the burgundy and gold worn by my favorite team since 1972, the Washington Redskins. (The name "Commanders" will never be heard from my lips. What the hell is that for a name?)

Now my favorite color is Orange - the ribbon color for kidney cancer. Green is also now in the color palate, the ribbon color for chronic kidney disease, for which I am also dealing with.

The month of March is Kidney Awareness month. This year, the waterfall in front of our home has been lit up in orange to bring awareness to kidney cancer. Cindy had the idea to ask the owners of the waterfall, Alice & Jon, if we could swap out the white flood lights with orange for the month of March. Of course they agreed. Throughout the year, the Friends of Stonehedge Waterfall https://friendsofwaterfall.wixsite.com/website will be lit up in different colors for cancer awareness and other causes. In April, the colors with be green and blue for National Donate Life Month, honoring individuals who donate organs to others. What a great way to bring awareness and honor to these causes and menaces.

There are 57 common cancer ribbon colors. In October, we plan to light up the waterfall in pink, for breast cancer awareness month. Still searching for a pink flood light!
